SPEED BOAT
A full day speedboat trip across the east coast is really worthy! It is designed to reach the south side of the island. It includes snorkelling and fish feeding, bathing, visiting small islets, exploring unique coral formations from a special glass bottom boat, touring the torsion of a shipwreck or a trip to a river mouth with a beautiful waterfall.
On board champagne and fruit cocktails are welcomed and pleasant refreshment. The day is concluded with a stylish meal at one of the islands while grilled meats, seafood and lobster with cold drinks are served.
ROYAL WALKS WITH LION
If their majesties in Casela Nature & Leisure Park make their time for you, you will experience a wonderful one hour-long jungle walk. Such an hour, in their way of life, marks a quarter of their time left after a good day-long nap. They spend more than 20 hours a day sleeping. The lion, Panthera leo, is the second largest feline species (after the tiger). They used to live in Europe too, but today only their heraldic drawings is what remained. Yeah, and Bruncvík's stone lion on Charles Bridge in Prague too.
The company operating this activity in the nature park is a family business from South Africa. They have trained lions for over 60 years. Such a photo with a lion and such experience of visiting the Casela park here on the beautiful island of Mauritius is absolutely worthy. Especially when their majesties spend an hour of time with you only.
LA VANILE NATURE PARK
The crocodile (Crocodylus) is a large aquatic reptile of the crocodile family. Crocodiles are predators. You won't meet a crocodile in Mauritius in the wild. It is no secret that La Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes Nature Park is not only attraction and a kind of zoo where school tours and tourists go, but also as a crocodile farm. What does this mean? They keep 1800 crocodiles under strict hygienic conditions. They breed them from the eggs. When the crocodile turns five, it is about 1,5m long and reaches a slaughter weight. You can have a crocodile steak at a restaurant and buy a handbag or a belt of genuine crocodile skin right next door - that's what you can do in the park! And how does steak taste? It's something between chicken and pork meat with a fish savor. The recipe by La Vanilla's chief is simple: Take a crocodile, cut a piece of ham, put the steak in oil, anise, thyme, pepper and salt. Then roast both sides for about 10-15 minutes and serve – Ahhh, here you are and the steak is on the table… Enjoy your croc!
THE RHUMERIE DE CHAMAREL
Chamarell's Rumeria is located in the mountains, and the zig-zag and narrow roads that lead to it can get your head tangled in the same way few glasses of delicious sugar cane spirit would do. For excursions and rum tastings groups of tourists as well as individuals come there. Of course in a stylish shop they also buy some bottles. Every single ingredient used for flavoured rums are home grown – pineapple, coffee or coconut. Archive rum matures in oak barrels and everything is stored very carefully. Simply rumeria… after its visit you will be certainly amazed and dazzled but for sure not blind.
A MILLION YEAR OLD POSTCARD
The colourful sands of Chamarell are truly unique natural formations. Places where bizarre formations ripple in the mountain forest are tastefully enclosed, you can find footpaths and rest areas there. This special geological formation is of volcanic origin. In fact it is soil layers fused together during extreme heat of volcanic activity. Soil is of amazing colours - varieties of shades of brown, crimson and ochre. Different colours were caused by different temperatures of the cooling process. Oxides of aluminium and iron also took their part in the process. In this way you can experience a wonderful colourful journey to prehistoric times of Mauritius.
DIVING
We work with professionals. We can arrange a diving course and also we can organize individual trips or specialized diving holiday for you. We would like to prove our word by presenting to you two unique publications made by prominent divers and photographers. To create such publications excellent knowledge of the environment, individual locations and their specific features was required same way as dozens of hours of shooting under the water surface. And so here we are with a book of the most beautiful images of the underwater world of Mauritius as well as a precise description of the coordinates of interesting dives that will satisfy everyone who loves diving.
This project was carried out in the spirit of Professor Jacques Yves Cousteau´s legacy and his "Petition Cousteau" about the blue planet and our future generations. Click here to view.
